| Entry qualification | First cycle diploma (BA, Undergraduate diploma) You must hold a first-cycle degree (i.e. bachelor’s degree) gained after at least 3 years of University education. You will also need to meet specific admission requirements and demonstrate an adequate personal knowledge in the following subjects: Materials Science, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics, and Applied Physics. In the case of foreign degree certificates, the degree must be recognised as equivalent to an Italian Bachelor’s Degree according to Italian legislation. Knowledge of the English language is also required, and applicants are expected to possess basic Information Technology (IT) skills (e.g. text elaboration, use of datasheets, etc.). Applicants will be asked to attend an online test on the Moodle platform. Information about the test will be sent via email to the students admitted to the test after an evaluation of the CV. List of the test topics that will be considered known by the applicants: - Fundamental knowledge of mathematics - Fundamental knowledge of physics - Fundamental knowledge of chemistry - Fundamental knowledge of earth science - Active and passive knowledge of scientific English The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / French / Italian / Spanish. Overview
The Master’s degree in Materials Science aims to provide a firm grounding in the chemical, physical and technological behaviour of a vast range of materials with emphasis on modern advances in the field. Students are trained to understand the properties of materials in current use and encouraged to develop original ideas for creating new materials which satisfy the requirements of society and world markets (i.e. cheap, safe, recyclable and with minimum negative impact on the environment). The course delivers advanced and integrated theoretical and practical training across the following interdisciplinary areas: chemistry and physics of solids, materials production, manufacturing and testing, with special attention to the characterization and modelling of material structures and properties.
