You must hold a first-cycle degree (i.e. bachelor’s degree) gained after at least 3 years of University education. You will also need to meet specific admission requirements and demonstrate an adequate personal knowledge in the following subjects: Materials Science, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics, and Applied Physics.

In the case of foreign degree certificates, the degree must be recognised as equivalent to an Italian Bachelor’s Degree according to Italian legislation. Knowledge of the English language is also required, and applicants are expected to possess basic Information Technology (IT) skills (e.g. text elaboration, use of datasheets, etc.).

Applicants will be asked to attend an online interview (in English) before their eligiblity for the Master’s degree program can be confirmed, in order to verify that they possess the required level of knowledge.

List of interview topics that will be considered known by the applicants:

- Fundamental knowledge of quantum mechanics;
- Fundamental knowledge of the chemical bond and electronic structure in molecules and solids;
- Thermodynamics;
- Elements of crystallography;
- Fundamental knowledge of the major class of materials and their properties (thermophysical, mechanical, electronic, optical and magnetic): polymers, ceramics, semiconductors, metals;
- Knowledge of basic informatic tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations);
- Active and passive knowledge of scientific English.
