First cycle diploma ( BA, Ungergraduate diploma)
To enrol in a second-cycle degree programme (i.e. master’s degree) with no admission quotas, you must hold a first-cycle degree (i.e. bachelor’s degree) of at least a 3 year-duration. You will also need to meet specific curricular requirements and demonstrate solid personal background. Curricular requirements will be assessed by a dedicated Committee through the examination of the educational qualifications presented by each candidate, which have to include a sufficient number of mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology exams. The above mentioned Committee will also assess candidate’s personal preparation through in-person and phone interviews. Candidate’s adequate personal preparation will be assessed focusing on basic knowledge as specified in the Syllabus below:

The Master’s degree in Plant Biotechnology aims at training new professionals equipped with advanced knowledge on the molecular and cellular aspects of plants, with particular reference to the species of agricultural interest and microorganisms for their application in the biotechnology field.
Graduates will obtain the expertise needed for the implementation of biotechnologies to the plant system and the agricultural and agri-food production processes, as well as competence in the application of plants and microorganisms in bio-remediation and metabolite production of environmental, industrial and pharmaceutical interest. Graduates, thanks to their knowledge of the professional ethics and bioethics regulations and potential problems related to biotechnologies of plant and microbial systems, possess the suitable tools to assess the potential impact of biotechnology products on the environment and human health.
Il Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Biotecnologie Vegetali ha l’obiettivo di formare una nuova figura professionale dotata di conoscenze approfondite e all’avanguardia sugli aspetti molecolari e cellulari delle piante, con particolare riferimento alle specie di interesse agrario, e dei microrganismi, nell’ottica di un loro utilizzo nel settore delle biotecnologie.
Il laureato acquisirà le competenze necessarie per l’applicazione delle biotecnologie al sistema pianta ed ai processi produttivi agrari e agroalimentari, nonché conoscenze relative all’impiego di piante e microrganismi nel biorisanamento e nella produzione di metaboliti di interesse ambientale, industriale, nutraceutico/farmaceutico. Il laureato, grazie alla conoscenza delle normative e problematiche deontologiche e bioetiche che riguardano le biotecnologie dei sistemi vegetali e microbici, disporrà di strumenti per valutare il potenziale impatto dei prodotti biotecnologici sull’ambiente e sulla salute umana.
